Post-Mining Multi-Hazard Assessment for Sustainable Development

چکیده
Today, most mines (coal, iron, and others) in Europe are already closed due to economic, environmental, societal issues. Therefore, post-mining risk assessment management remain crucial for mining authorities, policymakers, planners. In the period, several hazards likely affect surface areas sites. The impact of can lead potentially damaging changes and/or underground water flow, as well development instabilities that people or infrastructure, sometimes dangerously. different must consider interaction between other risks (natural technological). Thus, land use planning, particularly rehabilitation former sites, requires better tools apprehend multiplicity their constraints. paper presents a methodology considering interactions around mines. After recalling advantages this multi-hazard analysis, work consisted of, almost exhaustively, describing three prominent families hazards: mining, natural, technological. Then, possible were described according nature (trigger aggravating), category (technical regulatory), typology (dependent independent). Finally, an attempt was proposed evaluate type intensity hazards. applied coal mine showed complexity utility such analysis improve

Title: Post-sustainable Development
The past 15 years have witnessed the rise of post-development theory as a means of understanding the development discourse since the 1940s. Post-development argues that Intentional development (as distinct from Immanent development – what people are doing anyway), is a construct of Western hegemony. Sustainable development, they argue, is no different and indeed is perhaps worse given that most...
متن کاملPost-(sustainable) Development?
This paper critically reviews the application of a post-development analysis to sustainable development by employing a defined target for post-development analysis-the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC). The 'quadratic' EKC predicts an increase in environmental degradation with national wealth before reaching a point of inflection. Data from the 2005 Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI) for ...
متن کاملEmergy Assessment for Urban Sustainable Development
This paper is a study of the use of emergy indices for the evaluation of sustainable urban development. The Emergy Exchange Ratio (EER) and Emergy Waste Index (EWI) were introduced into the Emergy Sustainability Index (ESI) to establish a new index that reflects the emergy benefit per unit cost of environmental impact, which includes the market exchange and pollution/waste flow in the measureme...
متن کاملAssessment of desertification hazard, risk and development of management plans
About 80 percent of Iran is arid and semi-arid and about 35 percent of this area is susceptible to desertification hazard. Therefore desertification assessment and identification of the most important criteria for the assessment of risk and a basis for development of management plans is essential. This research was conducted in the semi-arid region of Agh-Band in the Golestan province, Iran wit...
متن کاملSustainable Development and Mining: Contradiction or Confirmation?
This paper explores the relationship between mining and sustainable development (SD) in South Africa. It examines the progress of mining and its interactions with labour, communities and the environment, the role of South African mining in the world context, and its economic contribution. It reviews the role of the South African Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act in achieving SD. A...
